Batanes imposes travel ban on tourists due to COVID-19

The provincial government of Batanes has imposed a travel ban on tourists and non-residents as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 threat.

Acting Governor Ignacio C. Villa issued Executive Order no. 16, implementing the travel ban from March 16 to April 16.

All tourists and individuals not based in the province for residence or employment are prohibited from entering the island.

Exemptions are granted to persons with official business in Batanes, provided they are fulfilling lawful obligations or addressing urgent national interest issues.

Batanes residents will be allowed entry but must present identification and adhere to quarantine procedures and health protocols set by the Department of Health (DOH).

These isolation measures will remain in effect until the national government terminates the public health emergency declaration.

The local government also discourages local senior citizens, pregnant women, and individuals with certain health conditions from traveling to mainland Luzon.
