BARMM nears measles vaccination goal for 1.3M children

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is nearing its goal of vaccinating 1.3 million children against measles, with at least one million children already immunized.

The Ministry of Health (MOH)-BARMM aims to continue the vaccination campaign until May 10, receiving support from religious leaders to address minimal parental hesitancy.

Nationwide, the Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 1,817 measles cases since January 1, a significant increase compared to the previous year.

Of the total nationwide cases, 48 were reported in BARMM, with Central Luzon accounting for 8% of the total.

Health Secretary Ted Herbosa is hopeful that the measles outbreak in BARMM will be controlled within four to six weeks.
