Bariou, Lustre claim P50M extortion attempt over Siargao bridge project opposition

Businessman Christophe Bariou has revealed that he and girlfriend Nadine Lustre are allegedly facing harassment and a P50-million extortion attempt after opposing a controversial bridge project in Siargao.

Bariou stated in an Instagram post that representatives of local government officials attempted to extort money from them.

The couple has been vocal in their opposition to the Union-Malinao Bridge project, citing concerns about the displacement of the indigenous Lumad people and potential environmental damage.

Bariou, a resident of Siargao for 11 years, expressed his disgust with the alleged decades-long cycle of corruption, political bullying, and vote-buying in the province.

He called for accountability from government officials involved in these alleged corrupt practices.
