Nadine Lustre's boyfriend targeted in P50M extortion try

Filipino-French businessman Christophe Bariou disclosed that he and his girlfriend, actress Nadine Lustre, were allegedly subjected to a P50-million extortion attempt by representatives of local politicians in Siargao.

Bariou detailed on Instagram that these individuals, claiming to represent politicians, approached the couple before the elections, demanding P50 million to 'resolve' the controversial Union-Malinao Bridge project.

The couple has been vocal in their opposition to the bridge project, citing environmental concerns and the potential displacement of the indigenous Lumad people.

The Union-Malinao Bridge project was halted by the national office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) after a report revealed falsified approval documents, a lack of an Environmental Impact Assessment, and ignored local DENR recommendations.

Bariou, a resident of Siargao for 11 years, expressed his disgust with alleged corruption and bullying in the province, calling for accountability from the involved officials.
