Jamie Malonzo returns as Barangay Ginebra routs Blackwater

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel secured a dominant 86-63 victory over the Blackwater Bossing in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup last Sunday.

Star player Jamie Malonzo made an "amazing" return to action after a nine-month layoff due to a calf injury, scoring eight points in almost 11 minutes of play off the bench.

His return was punctuated after the Kings forced a turnover that led to a thunderous dunk off a Scottie Thompson assist in the third quarter.

Malonzo, whose last game was on April 14 of last year, expressed that he felt like he had been waiting for a while for this day.

Coach Tim Cone expressed satisfaction with Malonzo's comeback, stating his minutes will be increased incrementally.

Justin Brownlee led Ginebra's balanced scoring with 18 points, while RJ Abarrientos added 15 points.

The win improved Ginebra's record to 6-3, placing them in joint third place, while Blackwater absorbed their fourth straight loss.
