Baguio City records 8 new Covid-19 cases, 4 are healthcare workers

Eight new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases were reported in Baguio City on Saturday, bringing the total number of cases to 26.

Four of these new cases are healthcare workers at Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), who are all in stable condition.

The four infected individuals include two doctors, one nurse, and one hospital clerk.

The new cases also include two overseas Filipino workers (OFW) from the United States, an employee of the Baguio Country Club, and an eight-day-old baby.

BGHMC's Medical Chief, Dr. Ricardo Ruñez, confirmed that contact tracing is underway, and hospital staff are being prepared for testing.

Disinfection protocols are being implemented in BGHMC wards, admissions have been temporarily halted, and coordination with other medical facilities is ongoing.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong has ordered lockdowns in the residential areas of the eight new cases and has directed measures for medical interventions, contract tracing, quarantine, and disinfection.
