Baguio City allocates P30 million for 10,000 RT-PCR test kits

Baguio City has allocated PHP30 million for the procurement of 10,000 RT-PCR testing kits to address the dwindling supply.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong highlighted the urgency of the purchase as the city's current inventory of 18,000 kits is rapidly depleting.

The city's health services office reported that approximately 400 to 500 tests are conducted daily, potentially depleting the remaining supply in two weeks.

As of August 6, Baguio City had already performed 27,789 PCR tests on various individuals, including front-liners, close contacts, and a portion of the general population.

The city has previously received over 100,000 testing kits from donors and shared them with Benguet province and other areas within the Cordillera region.

Mayor Magalong emphasized that while testing is crucial for contact tracing, sharing resources with other provinces is also important due to their regional connection.
