Arroyo mourns death of lawyer Estelito Mendoza

Former President Gloria Arroyo expressed sadness over the death of her lawyer, Estelito Mendoza, who was 95 years old.

Mendoza successfully defended Arroyo in her plunder case involving P366 million in Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) intelligence funds.

Arroyo stated that Mendoza argued in the Supreme Court that no evidence showed any possibility of fund diversion to her.

She expressed eternal gratitude to Mendoza, whom she called a "legal eagle and the lawyer's lawyer."

Mendoza also served as Solicitor General, Governor of Pampanga, and was a director at the Philippine National Bank.

He represented other high-profile personalities, business moguls, and government leaders, including former President Joseph Estrada.

Arroyo also highlighted Mendoza's role in framing the Philippines' baseline policy and nuances of the South China Sea issue during her presidency.
