Military collects 19 firearms in Central Mindanao disarmament effort

The military collected 19 additional firearms from residents in two towns in Central Mindanao as part of an ongoing disarmament program.

These surrendered weapons are now under the joint custody of the 6th Infantry Division (6th ID), the 90th Infantry Battalion, and the 2nd Marine Battalion.

The Small Arms and Light Weapons Management Program, implemented since 2024 by the 6th ID and Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr., supports the government's peace process in the Bangsamoro region and six neighboring provinces.

The firearms were surrendered during separate ceremonies on February 10th in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur, and Matanog, Maguindanao del Norte.

Since July, units of the 6th ID have collected a total of 721 combat weapons, including grenade and rocket launchers, and machine guns.
