Muslims nationwide celebrate Eid Al Fitr with holiday

Filipino Muslims are celebrating Eid Al Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, with gatherings and a nationwide holiday.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. declared Tuesday, April 1, 2025, a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid'l Fitr through Proclamation No. 839, signed on March 20.

This declaration followed the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) and aims to allow the entire nation to join in the celebration.

Around 10,000 people gathered at Rizal Park in Manila for the observance, which remained peaceful, and Muslims in Davao City also converged on Roxas Avenue.

The NCMF had previously announced the celebration would begin on Monday, March 31, 2025, after the crescent moon was sighted, and BARMM declared March 31 as a non-working holiday within its jurisdiction.
