Ang Bumbero Party-list nominee shot dead in Manila

Leninsky Bacud, the third nominee of the Ang Bumbero Party-list, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on April 28, just two weeks before the May 12 midterm elections.

The attack occurred in Sampaloc, Manila, shortly before 6 p.m. as Bacud was returning home after a campaign activity with the party-list's first nominee, Jose Antonio Ejercito Goitia.

Witnesses described the assailants as riding-in-tandem motorcycle gunmen who fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Bacud was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

The Ang Bumbero Party-list confirmed Bacud's death and condemned violence, urging for peace and unity in the upcoming elections.

Party-list nominee Goitia described Bacud as a dedicated public servant and advocate for firefighters' rights.
