AMLC to probe casinos linked to 'BGC Boys' over billions laundered

The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) will investigate casinos following allegations by Senate Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson that former DPWH Bulacan engineers, known as the 'BGC Boys,' have cashed in billions of pesos from gaming houses.

Senator Erwin Tulfo, chair of the Senate Committee on Games and Amusement, stated that he would also seek an investigation into these casinos.

The 'BGC Boys' allegedly posed as contractors during their casino dealings and incurred over P950 million in losses, as revealed by Lacson.

Tulfo accused the casinos of turning a blind eye to the millions of pesos in bets placed by the 'BGC Boys' and suggested they were aware of the DPWH officials using fake IDs to gamble.

AMLC executive director Matthew David confirmed that penalties will be imposed on covered persons found to have violated regulations, and Tulfo vowed to hold gaming houses accountable if they do not cooperate with the AMLC to prevent corruption and potential money laundering.
