AMLC freezes P6.3 billion in assets linked to flood control scandal

The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) has secured its seventh freeze order on assets suspected to be linked to a flood control scandal, involving numerous high-value properties and vehicles.

This latest freeze order covers 45 additional real estate properties and 81 vehicles, including luxury cars and motorcycles reportedly owned by former government officials.

The AMLC stated that this new order supplements a previous one from September 15, 2025, marking a significant escalation in the investigation.

AMLC Executive Director Atty. Matthew M. David assured the public that their investigation is ongoing and committed to holding accountable those who misuse public funds.

To date, the AMLC has frozen a total of 1,671 bank accounts, 58 insurance policies, 244 motor vehicles, 144 real properties, and 12 e-wallet accounts.

These frozen assets, valued at P6.3 billion, are believed to be connected to anomalous, 'ghost,' or substandard government projects, with the total value expected to increase.
