American man leaves NAIA for Thailand after weeks-long stay

A 76-year-old American man, who had been living at NAIA Terminal 3 for several weeks after arriving from Bangkok on January 31, has now departed for Thailand.

He initially chose to stay at the airport due to the expense of hotels and had been relying on donations from staff and passengers.

While he reported being a victim of theft, he claimed to still have some money.

The US embassy in Manila initiated assistance for him, and the Bureau of Immigration confirmed he did not overstay his visa.

He left the country for Bangkok on February 22.
