Alice Guo, 2 others to serve sentence at Correctional Institution for Women for qualified trafficking

Ousted Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and two co-accused, Rachelle Carreon and Jaimielyn Cruz, will be committed to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City to serve their sentence for qualified human trafficking.

The Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 167 ordered the transfer of Guo and her co-accused, who were found guilty of qualified trafficking in persons due to their involvement in unlawful activities in the Philippine offshore gaming operator hub in Bamban, Tarlac.

Guo and seven co-accused, including Chinese Walter Wong Rong, Wang Weili, Wuli Dong, Nong Ding Chang, and Lang Xu Po, were convicted of different levels of human trafficking linked to POGO activities in Bamban.

This commitment order denies Guo's motion to remain at the Pasig City Jail female dormitory.

Guo's legal counsel stated they are taking necessary legal steps to protect her rights and will file an appeal.

The conviction is related to alleged large-scale human trafficking operations linked to a POGO hub in Bamban, with the accused sentenced to life imprisonment and fined P2 million, plus reparations for victims.

Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director Gregorio Catapang Jr. assured that security measures are being enhanced at the CIW, and Guo will undergo a mandatory five-day quarantine upon arrival at the Reception and Diagnostic Center (RDC).
