Alfrancis Chua tapped as program director for Gilas Pilipinas teams

Alfrancis Chua has been appointed as the program director and team manager for both the Gilas Pilipinas Men and Gilas Pilipinas Youth teams.

Chua, who also holds the position of sports director at San Miguel Corp., brings extensive experience to his new role.

SBP President Al Panlilio expressed his enthusiasm for Chua's return, emphasizing their shared goal of improving Philippine basketball.

The SBP acknowledged the support of SMC Chairman and Ramon Ang for Chua's involvement with the national program, and Chua thanked "boss RSA" for his blessing.

Chua's prior success includes being the team manager for Gilas Pilipinas when they secured a gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games, breaking a 60-year drought.

Gilas Pilipinas coach Tim Cone expressed his desire for Chua's presence, noting his support during the 2022 Asian Games and describing him as a "special motivator" who has his back.

Chua was present at the bench during Gilas Pilipinas' hosting of New Zealand in the second window of the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers and was seen motivating the team.

He looks forward to working with coach Tim Cone and LA Tenorio, who is also the new Gilas Youth mentor.
