Alas Pilipinas to face world No. 13 Iran in Volleyball Men's World Championship

The Philippine men's volleyball team, Alas Pilipinas, ranked world No. 82, is set to compete in the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship hosted by the Philippines, aiming to be competitive and secure victories.

Alas Pilipinas will face tough opponents in Pool A: world No. 43 Tunisia, world No. 48 Egypt, and world No. 13 Iran, with all games being played at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Their campaign begins on opening day, September 12, against Tunisia, followed by matches against Egypt on September 16, and Iran on September 18.

The team's veteran stars, Marck Espejo and Bryan Bagunas, expressed honor and excitement to showcase Philippine volleyball on the world stage.

Alas Pilipinas needs to finish in the top 2 of its pool to advance to the Round of 16 phase of the tournament.

Despite being underdogs, the team is unfazed and determined to give their best, taking it one set at a time.

The team is mentored by Italian Angiolino Frigoni and underwent a European tour as part of their preparation.
