Alas Pilipinas vies for top spot in AVC Nations Cup

Alas Pilipinas is set to compete in the AVC Women's Volleyball Nations Cup in Hanoi, Vietnam, from June 7 to 14, aiming to surpass their third-place finish from the previous year.

The national team's strongest roster yet includes collegiate star Shaina Nitura, making her national team debut, alongside key players like Jia de Guzman, Angel Canino, Eya Laure, Alyssa Solomon, Bella Belen, and Vanie Gandler.

Returning players filling the 16-member squad include liberos Jen Nierva and skipper Dawn Macandili-Catindig, and middle blockers Thea Gagate, Fifi Sharma, and Dell Palomata.

Alas Pilipinas will face a demanding schedule in Pool B against Mongolia, Indonesia, Iran, New Zealand, and Kazakhstan.

Their campaign begins on Saturday, June 7, at 4 p.m. against Mongolia.

The team's performance in this tournament is seen as a significant step in their ongoing efforts to make their mark on the international volleyball stage.
