Over 9,043 medical personnel and other front-liners of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana stated that around 25,000 more AFP front-liners are still undergoing or registered for vaccination.
The vaccines used for AFP front-liners are from the 100,000 doses of Sinovac Biotech's CoronaVac jabs donated by the Chinese Ministry of Defense to the Department of National Defense (DND).
Of the donated vaccines, 30,000 were retained for the DND and its attached agencies, while the remaining 70,000 were given to the AFP.
The vaccination of AFP front-liners will continue until all initial vaccine doses donated by China are expended.
Front-liners who were initially hesitant about the Chinese-made COVID-19 vaccines are now more willing to take the jabs due to the increase in the country's COVID-19 cases.
