AFP suspects foreign power mapping PH after spy incidents

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) suspects a foreign power is actively mapping out the country following a series of espionage activities.

This suspicion is fueled by the discovery of an underwater drone, the arrest of foreigners with fake IDs, and the apprehension of suspected spies with espionage equipment.

Philippine Navy spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad, indicated these incidents suggest a coordinated effort by an unnamed foreign power.

Trinidad pointed to the issuance of fraudulent birth certificates to foreign nationals, citing the case of former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, who was arrested in connection with Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) activities.

He noted that taken together, the discovery of a submersible drone, a local chief executive with a dubious background, and foreign nationals arrested with fake government IDs and birth certificates paint a larger picture.

The AFP is vigilant and taking necessary actions against this perceived threat to national security, analyzing these events within a broader context.
