AFP recognizes personnel in COVID-19 mega facilities

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) recognized its personnel serving in Metro Manila's COVID-19 mega quarantine and testing facilities.

General Felimon Santos Jr., AFP chief of staff, expressed pride in the military doctors, nurses, medical aid, support, and security personnel risking their well-being in these critical areas.

Hundreds of AFP personnel have been deployed to the World Trade Center, Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Rizal Memorial Coliseum, and Enderun Mega Swabbing Center.

The AFP responded to a directive from President Duterte to provide manpower for clinical and operational support to these facilities nationwide.

Task Group WTC CARE, composed of 87 military medical personnel, has managed the World Trade Center facility, admitting and discharging Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

A team of 65 medical personnel from the AFP Health Service Command is managing the Ninoy Aquino Stadium facility, which has treated 108 COVID-19 positive patients.

Forty-one emergency medical technicians are overseeing the Rizal Memorial Coliseum facility, currently accommodating thirteen positive patients.

A total of 50 personnel from the Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force, and Philippine Navy are stationed at the Enderun Mega Swabbing Center, which facilitates mass testing.

The AFP personnel are working alongside staff from various government agencies, including the BCDA, DOH, MMDA, DOLE, DPWH, and NSC.

General Santos emphasized that the AFP remains committed to its mandate of protecting the Filipino people from all threats, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
