AFP, PNP to boost DPWH flood control project inspections

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) will provide additional manpower to support the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in inspecting flood control projects.

This collaboration follows reports of a possible request for military support in infrastructure and disaster response operations.

An AFP spokesperson confirmed the military's readiness to coordinate with the DPWH, reiterating the AFP's consistent role in national development and public service.

The AFP's Corps of Engineers, along with other units, are prepared to assist in site inspections, provide security, and ensure transparency, especially in remote or disaster-affected areas.

The military views this assistance as aligning with its broader mission of defense and nation-building by safeguarding vital infrastructure.

DPWH Secretary Dizon explained that the extensive scope of the task, involving thousands of projects nationwide, necessitates additional manpower and resources beyond the department's current capabilities.
