AFP monitors 2 Chinese naval task groups near PH waters

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has been monitoring two Chinese naval task groups operating near Philippine waters over the past week.

One task group, centered around an amphibious assault ship, was observed transiting the eastern seaboard of the Philippines, outside the country's exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

The second group, the Liaoning carrier battle group, was detected in the northeastern part of Luzon, near Okinawa, Japan.

These observations are part of the AFP's expanded Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) operations, aligning with the military's shift towards territorial defense.
