AFP denies military unrest over Duterte's ICC arrest

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has denied claims of military unrest following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla emphasized that soldiers remain professional and non-partisan, focusing on their mission of safeguarding national security and maintaining stability.

Padilla stated that Duterte's arrest is a matter of law enforcement and outside the AFP's direct purview.

She assured that speculations of military action or unrest have no basis, and the AFP is solid, professional, and unequivocally committed to the chain of command and democratic institutions.

While the overall security situation is stable, the AFP is monitoring developments, including street protests, and is prepared to respond to threats to peace and order.

The AFP also called on the public to exercise restraint and uphold the rule of law.
