Advocacy groups denounce alleged plot to harm President Marcos Jr.

Several Filipino advocacy groups have denounced an alleged plot to harm President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his family, calling such actions cowardly and detrimental to the nation's stability.

The alleged plot surfaced on social media, with claims that groups associated with supporters of the previous administration were planning to harm the President.

A social media post, quoted in Filipino, alleged that former President Duterte wished for Marcos Jr. and his family to be killed and mentioned a supposed "Sara Army" training in Sorsogon under Senator Chiz Escudero's knowledge.

Leaders from the Alyansa ng Bantay sa Kapayapaan at Demokrasya (ABKD), People's Alliance for Democracy and Reforms (PADER), Liga Independencia Pilipinas (LIPI), and Filipinos Do Not Yield (FDNY) Movement condemned the alleged threat as an attack on democracy and national peace.

Jose Antonio Goitia, chairman emeritus of these groups, emphasized that any threat against the President is a threat against the Republic and urged public unity against acts destabilizing the government.
