Adamson, UST secure twice-to-beat advantage in SSL quarterfinals

Adamson University and the University of Santo Tomas have secured a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals of the Shakey's Super League (SSL) Collegiate Pre-Season Championship Season 2.

Both UAAP squads achieved this by finishing as second seeds in their respective pools after winning their final elimination round matches.

Adamson University completed a reverse sweep against the College of St. Benilde with a final score of 25-18, 10-25, 17-25, 25-18, 15-8, finishing with a 5-1 record in Pool F.

Maria Rochelle Lalongisip was instrumental in Adamson's victory, scoring a career-high 21 points.

Meanwhile, the University of Santo Tomas swept the Ateneo Blue Eagles in three sets (25-15, 25-21, 25-18) to also end with a 5-1 slate in Pool E.

Cassie Carballo's 15 excellent sets supported UST's balanced offense, with Jonna Perdido scoring nine points.

The Lady Falcons finished second in Pool F behind FEU, while the Golden Tigresses were second in Pool E behind NU.

All four teams with these incentives will face lower-ranked teams in the crossover quarterfinals.
