Groups urge Comelec to resolve Duterte Youth case, benefit Gabriela

Activist groups, including Gabriela, are urging the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to expedite its final decision on the case involving the Duterte Youth Party-list, which could lead to Gabriela's proclamation.

Gabriela placed 55th with 256,609 votes in the May party-list race, and only the top 54 groups were proclaimed as winners.

The Duterte Youth Party-list had its candidacy voided at the Comelec Second Division level for failing to meet accreditation requirements.

The group has appealed this ruling, and the case is now before the Comelec en banc.

Gabriela submitted letters of appeal to the Comelec, emphasizing their role as a consistent champion of women's and people's rights and urging them to be proclaimed.

Members of Gabriela staged a rally outside the Comelec main office in Intramuros, Manila to submit their consolidated letters of appeal from various marginalized sectors.
