ACT urges GSIS to provide P20,000 calamity aid to gov employees

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines is urging the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) to provide a P20,000 calamity aid to government employees affected by recent natural disasters.

ACT, along with other groups, submitted a petition to GSIS, supported by signatures from government employees across the nation.

The petition highlights the widespread damage caused by multiple typhoons, earthquakes, and floods that have impacted 59 out of 82 provinces in the country.

ACT emphasized the urgency of the aid, stating it would be a crucial lifeline for public servants facing significant losses as the holiday season approaches.

ACT Chairperson Ruby Bernardo noted that many government workers are dealing with damaged homes, including destroyed roofs and walls, and flood-damaged belongings, despite their continued commitment to public service.
