Rep Acop challenges Sen Dela Rosa on drug war allegations

Antipolo City Rep. Romeo Acop urged Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa to directly address allegations concerning the former administration's drug war.

Dela Rosa responded to Acop by stating he does not hide from anyone, citing his past experiences fighting terrorists and insurgents, and invoking their shared background from the Philippine Military Academy.

Acop's challenge came after Dela Rosa's remarks against former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, who claimed the former top cop threatened his life back in 2017.

Mabilog claimed he left the country for Japan and was supposed to go back to the Philippines but was advised by a police official to do the opposite.

The congressman emphasized that the quad committee hearings are focused on uncovering the truth about extrajudicial killings and human rights violations during the drug war.

He stressed that the hearings also aim to investigate connections between illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (Pogos) and the drug trade.

Acop challenged dela Rosa to be accountable and face the facts instead of seeking refuge behind the Vice President.

He stated that the purpose of the hearings is to create laws that prevent such crimes, not to engage in political maneuvering.
