AIC to upgrade, operate Laguindingan Airport by April 2025

Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) is set to upgrade, operate, and maintain Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental, Mindanao's second busiest gateway, by April 2025.

AIC received the notice of award from the Department of Transportation and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on September 30, with the concession agreement expected to be signed by the end of October.

The P12.75 billion project involves renovating and expanding existing facilities, including the passenger terminal building, to boost its capacity by 143.75 percent to 3.9 million passengers per annum.

AIC has partnered with Irish state-run company daa International, which operates Dublin Airport, to serve as the Technical Services Advisor for the project.

daa International will lend its expertise in airport operations, having managed over 85 million passengers worldwide.

AIC aims to modernize the airport into a world-class gateway to boost connectivity, tourism, and economic growth in Northern Mindanao.

AIC intends to fund the airport upgrade and operations through a mix of debt and equity.

AIC also operates the award-winning Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
