ABC indefinitely suspends Jimmy Kimmel's show after offensive remarks

ABC has indefinitely suspended Jimmy Kimmel's show after Nexstar Media Group pulled the program from its affiliate stations due to Kimmel's "offensive and insensitive" comments about the killing of Charlie Kirk.

Nexstar stated that Kimmel's remarks do not align with the values of the local communities served by their stations.

Kimmel's comments were made during his monologue where he discussed the arrest of Tyler Robinson, the suspected assassin of Kirk, and accused the "MAGA gang" of exploiting the situation.

President Donald Trump celebrated Kimmel's suspension, as Kirk was an ally of the president.

Rappler CEO Maria Ressa guested on The Daily Show, hosted by Jon Stewart, and drew parallels between the current US administration's actions against media and the situation in the Philippines under President Rodrigo Duterte.

Ressa noted that Trump has sued newspapers and threatened networks that feature critics, stating it felt like "deja vu and PTSD" given her experiences with the Securities and Exchange Commission during Duterte's presidency.
