90,533 families displaced by Taal unrest

The continuing unrest of Taal Volcano has displaced 90,533 families, equivalent to 348,563 individuals across Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, and Quezon.

Of the displaced population, 37,445 families, or 137,994 individuals, are currently housed in 488 evacuation centers, while the rest are staying with relatives and friends.

Assistance from the departments of social welfare and health has reached PHP27,056,685.01.

The volcano has exhibited weak to moderate emission of white steam-laden plumes 100 to 800 meters high, with an average sulfur dioxide emission of 409 tons per day.

Six volcanic earthquakes were recorded in the past 24 hours, with magnitudes ranging from 1.5 to 2.3.

Taal Volcano remains under Alert Level 4, indicating a hazardous eruption is still possible due to magmatic intrusion.
