65 more coronavirus cases confirmed on Diamond Princess ship

Another 65 people aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship docked in Japan have been diagnosed with novel coronavirus, bringing the total number of known infections to 135.

The ship has been under quarantine since arriving off Japan's coast early last week after the virus was detected in a former passenger who had disembarked in Hong Kong.

Of the 103 people tested, 65 were confirmed positive, with nationalities including Japanese, Australians, Filipinos, a Canadian, a Brit, and a Ukrainian.

One of those found infected is in serious condition.

The ship, carrying over 3,700 passengers and crew, is expected to remain under quarantine until February 19.

Around 600 people on board urgently needed medication, with about half receiving supplies over the weekend.

Discussions are ongoing regarding increasing testing capacity and potential testing after passengers are released from quarantine.
