63% of Filipinos prefer US-made COVID-19 vaccines

A Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed that 63% of Filipinos prefer COVID-19 vaccines manufactured in the United States.

The survey, conducted from April 28 to May 2, 2021, polled 1,200 Filipino adults on their preferred country of origin for vaccines.

Following the US, other preferred countries included China (19%), Japan (13%), Australia (13%), and the United Kingdom (13%).

When asked about specific vaccine brands, 39% of Filipinos preferred Sinovac, while 32% chose Pfizer-BioNTech.

Other preferred brands included Oxford-AstraZeneca (22%), Johnson & Johnson (10%), and Moderna, Inc. (7%).

The SWS survey also found that 76% of those who chose China as their preferred source of vaccines also selected Sinovac's CoronaVac.

Majority of those who chose the US as their source of vaccines preferred Pfizer (43%) and Sinovac (41%).

Sinovac was the most preferred brand in Mindanao (44%) and the Visayas (44%).
