6 dead, 23 injured in bus crash in Del Gallego

Six people died and 23 others were injured when a passenger bus fell into a 26 to 30-meter-deep ravine in Del Gallego, Camarines Sur early Friday morning.

The DLTB bus was en route from Cubao, Quezon City to Sorsogon.

One victim died on Saturday, while another passed away early Sunday morning at Bicol Medical Center, increasing the death toll to six.

The bus, which carried 25 passengers and two drivers, reportedly fell into the ravine around 2 a.m. in Barangay Magais 1.

Trees below the ravine helped stop the bus from falling further, preventing more damage.

Initial police investigation suggests the driver may have fallen asleep or experienced a medical emergency at the wheel, leading to the loss of control.

The injured passengers were transported to Tagkawayan General Hospital in Tagkawayan, Quezon for medical attention.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has launched an investigation into the crash and will issue a show-cause order to the bus company.
