50,000 Sputnik V doses arrive in PH

A total of 50,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine arrived in Manila on Sunday night, May 30, 2021.

The doses were flown in by Qatar Airways and arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.

Vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. and Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Marat Pavlov welcomed the arrival at NAIA.

The vaccines will be delivered from PharmaServ Warehouse in Marikina City to "centers of gravity" such as the National Capital Region and other areas with COVID-19 surges.

This shipment brings the total number of Sputnik V doses received by the Philippines to 80,000, following previous deliveries of 15,000 doses each on May 1 and May 12.

The Sputnik V vaccine has an efficacy rate of 91.6% and is recommended for individuals aged 18 and above, according to the Philippine FDA.
