50 Manila teachers trained on AI integration in education

Over 50 public school teachers from 12 Manila public schools participated in a three-day workshop focused on integrating artificial intelligence into their teaching practices.

The training, "Empowering Educators: Harnessing AI for Future-Ready Teaching," was a collaboration between the Aboitiz Foundation and the TELUS Digital Philippines Community Board.

Facilitated by Google for Education experts, the workshop covered essential AI skills such as prompt engineering and explored practical AI tools for the classroom.

Nerissa R. Lomeda, officer-in-charge of the Schools Division Superintendent of Manila City, stated that AI is transforming education with personalized learning, intelligent tutoring, automated grading, and predictive analysis.

She emphasized that "AI is no longer science fiction - it is already shaping our classrooms, lesson planning, and student tools."

Teachers engaged in hands-on activities and developed AI-powered solutions aimed at enhancing lesson delivery and school operations.

The program concluded with capstone presentations highlighting innovative AI applications for future-ready education.

This initiative, held in observance of National Teachers' Month, also had support from Ronald McDonald House Charities and Converge ICT, and endorsement from the Department of Education-Manila.
