5 Luzon areas to hit danger level heat index Friday

Five areas in Luzon are forecast to experience a heat index reaching the "danger level" of 42°C on Friday, March 7, 2025, according to PAGASA.

The areas under the danger level forecast include Dagupan City in Pangasinan, Iba in Zambales, Ambulong in Tanauan, Batangas, San Jose in Occidental Mindoro, and Cuyo in Palawan.

A heat index within the range of 42°C to 51°C is classified as "danger," indicating significant health risks such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

Other areas like NAIA Pasay City are expected to have a heat index of 40°C, and Science Garden Quezon City at 39°C, both falling under the "extreme caution" category.

The "extreme caution" category, with heat indices from 33°C to 41°C, means heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible, and continued exposure may lead to heat stroke.

These high temperatures are considered normal as the Philippines transitions from the rainy to the dry season, PAGASA stated.
