40 LGUs under state of calamity due to recent typhoons

Forty cities and municipalities have been declared under a state of calamity due to Tropical Cyclones Crising, Dante, Emong, and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

This declaration allows affected local government units to access calamity funds, quickly respond to constituent needs, and impose a price freeze on basic commodities.

The province of Cavite, comprising 23 cities and municipalities, is among the heavily affected areas that have declared a state of calamity.

Seventeen other areas, including several in Bulacan, Pampanga, Rizal, and Metro Manila cities like Malabon and Quezon City, have also been placed under a state of calamity.

Four more areas, Caloocan City, Navotas, Valenzuela City, and Marilao, Bulacan, have recently been declared under a state of calamity.

Nine additional areas, including Marikina, Manila, and Las Piñas in Metro Manila, and several in Pangasinan, were previously reported to be under similar declarations.

The adverse weather conditions have impacted a total of 2,733,646 individuals or 765,869 families across various regions, excluding Eastern Visayas.

The death toll due to Crising, Dante, Emong, and Habagat has now reached 12.

Reported consequences of the bad weather include widespread flooding, landslides, the collapse of structures, and the occurrence of tornadoes.

Typhoon Emong is nearing landfall over western Pangasinan, with four areas under Signal 4.
