Eleksyon 2025 candidates urged to follow campaign rules

The 45-day campaign period for local candidates in Eleksyon 2025 began on Friday, March 28, 2025.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairperson George Garcia urged candidates to strictly follow election rules and warned against placing campaign materials indiscriminately.

Campaign materials must be placed only in designated common poster areas, with specific size limitations, and permission must be obtained for posting on private properties.

Candidates are encouraged to use biodegradable materials for their campaign paraphernalia.

Garcia also stressed that feeding programs during campaign rounds and giving away expensive gifts or money are prohibited as they constitute vote-buying or abuse of state resources.

Failure to comply with Comelec directives, such as removing campaign materials upon notice, may lead to disqualification.

Election propaganda is allowed on various media, including the internet and billboards, subject to expense limits, truth in advertising, and Comelec supervision.
