Over 4,000 join OGP fun run for open governance, PRC

Over 4,000 participants joined the inaugural Open Government Partnership (OGP) Fun Run at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila, hosted by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

The event aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle and raise awareness for open governance, with proceeds supporting the PRC's humanitarian efforts.

MMDA chairman Atty. Romando Artes stated that the race served as an avenue for the public to support initiatives enhancing government accountability, transparency, participation, and solidarity.

DBM Secretary and PH-OGP Chairperson Amenah Pangandaman emphasized that the ultimate goal of open government is to foster greater trust between the people and the government.

The fun run served as a precursor event to the Philippine hosting of the OGP Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting on February 5 to 7.

This meeting will bring together government representatives, civil society leaders, and global partners to exchange best practices and progress on open government initiatives.
