4-year-old child dies in Calamba police shootout

A shootout in Calamba City, Laguna, resulted in the death of a four-year-old child and injuries to two police officers and a civilian woman.

The incident occurred when police were serving an arrest warrant for Reggie, identified as the most wanted person in Laguna and facing homicide charges.

Three armed men allegedly initiated the gunfire, leading to an exchange of bullets with law enforcers.

A companion of Reggie, identified as Romar, was killed during the encounter.

The four-year-old child, referred to as "Akhi," was struck by a stray bullet and died upon arrival at a hospital.

Two police sergeants were wounded, one in the right shoulder and the other in the right leg.

A 52-year-old bystander, Flor, was also injured and sustained a gunshot wound.

Reggie was apprehended in his safehouse, but two other accomplices managed to escape and are subjects of a manhunt.
