2 cops, 2 others nabbed with P1M cigarettes after chase

Four individuals, including two members of state law enforcement, were apprehended following a vehicle accident during a police pursuit in General Santos City.

The incident began when the suspects evaded a routine inspection at a checkpoint in Maasim, Sarangani, leading to a chase by law enforcers.

The suspects' van, which overturned in Barangay Apopong, General Santos City, was found to be carrying approximately P1 million worth of Indonesian-made cigarettes.

Among the apprehended were an active police highway patrol unit member, who was found with an unlicensed firearm, and a confessed member of the Philippine Coast Guard.
