4 Metro Manila cities reimpose curfews amid COVID-19 surge

San Juan, Caloocan, Muntinlupa, and Pasay City have reimposed curfews in response to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila.

However, Manila City will retain its existing 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. curfew for adults and 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. for minors, as per Mayor Isko Moreno's order.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) previously announced that Metro Manila mayors agreed to impose uniform curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for two weeks, starting Monday, March 15.

Some local government units (LGUs) are placing some barangays under lockdown.

Experts state that a surge in COVID-19 cases is already underway, despite the government easing travel restrictions and allowing non-essential establishments to reopen.

As of Wednesday, the Philippines has a total of 603,308 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 12,545 deaths.
