4 dead in Batangas landslide due to Typhoon Carina

Four residents, including a six-month pregnant woman aged 28 and three minors aged 9, 13, and 15, died in a landslide on Wednesday, July 24, in Sitio Manalao, Barangay Subic Ilaya, Agoncillo, Batangas.

The victims, identified as members of the Rimas family, were inside their wooden house when buried by soil.

Their bodies were recovered by local authorities on Wednesday, July 24.

Another casualty was reported in Nasugbu town, Batangas, where a 46-year-old man died after being pinned by an uprooted acacia tree.

The incidents were attributed to the strong winds and heavy rains caused by Typhoon Carina (international name: Gaemi).

Local government units are continuing evacuation efforts for affected residents in Agoncillo and urging for utmost caution.
