4 DI-HG members killed in Maguindanao clash

Four members of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Hasan Group (DI-HG) were killed in an encounter with Philippine Marines in Barira, Maguindanao del Norte on Monday, March 17, 2025.

The clash occurred when DI-HG gunmen, led by Emarudin Kasan Kulaw, opened fire on Marine Battalion Landing Team-2 personnel after residents reported their presence.

The fatalities included Mustapha Kasan Kulaw, the son of Emarudin, and three others, one of whom remains unidentified.

The military reported no casualties on the government side.

Three of the identified slain gunmen had their bodies claimed by relatives, and fleeing companions were seen carrying three wounded individuals.

War materials, including M16 rifles, a grenade launcher, and pistols, were recovered by the Marines.

Clearing operations are ongoing, and Emarudin Kasan Kulaw is listed on the joint order of battle of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police.
