323 Filipino seafarers repatriated from Ukraine

Another 13 Filipino seafarers arrived home on Friday, March 25, 2022, bringing the total repatriated from Ukraine to 323.

This influx includes eight crew members from the MV Filia Glory who arrived on Thursday evening.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) stated that repatriating seafarers has become more challenging due to intensified fighting, especially in Mykolaiv.

Evacuation efforts involved disembarking seafarers via small boats to reach the shore.

In addition to seafarers, the DFA also facilitated the return of a Filipino child and her Ukrainian mother.

Around 45 more Filipinos in Ukraine are set to be repatriated, with the Philippine government organizing the return of half of them.

The DFA had previously raised Alert Level 4 in Ukraine due to the deteriorating security situation.
