319 schools in Region IV-A used as Taal evac centers

As of January 23, 2020, 319 schools in eight divisions in Region IV-A are being used as evacuation centers due to Taal Volcano's unrest.

These schools are providing shelter to 22,121 families, totaling 79,412 individuals, including 11,005 learners.

Batangas province remains the most affected, with 244 schools and 2,227 classrooms serving as evacuation sites for 16,479 families.

Teachers' Dignity Coalition (TDC) urged the government to fast-track the construction of dedicated evacuation centers to prevent class disruptions.

DepEd data shows that 594,228 learners in 1,079 schools are affected, with classes suspended in five divisions impacting 574,717 learners.

DepEd personnel affected by the crisis now number 20,676.
