25 more barangays in QC recommended for special concern lockdown

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles recommended to the Quezon City government the implementation of special concern lockdowns in 25 additional barangays experiencing a high incidence of COVID-19.

Nograles, who is overseeing the pandemic response for Quezon City, noted that local officials have already been conducting similar lockdowns on streets, puroks, and condominiums where cases have clustered.

He identified several potential 'hotspots' among the 25 barangays, including Tandang Sora, Commonwealth, Holy Spirit, Novaliches Proper, Pasong Tamo, Crame, Payatas, Socorro, Matandang Balara, Pinyahan, and San Roque.

The implementation of these localized lockdowns is part of the national and local governments' six-point priorities for Quezon City, which has approximately 8,000 active COVID-19 cases.

The villages of Batasan Hills, Culiat, Fairview, Tatalon, Sauyo, Bahay Toro, Kamuning, Roxas, Bagbag, Baesa, and Kaligayahan have already been placed under special concern lockdowns.

Checkpoints will be established on some thoroughfares in Quezon City to screen individuals passing through its boundaries for potential virus carriers.
