Twenty-four Filipinos have returned home after being rescued from scam hubs in Cambodia.
They arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 on August 23 via a Philippine Airlines flight from Phnom Penh.
The group, composed of nine men and 15 women, was received by the NAIA Task Force Against Trafficking and the Department of Migrant Workers.
Recruited through social media with promises of customer service jobs and a $1,500 monthly salary, the victims were forced into online scam operations, receiving only about $300.
They reported being subjected to harsh punishments, including forced squats, as well as verbal and physical abuse for failing to meet daily quotas.
Some victims were also sold to other companies.
Separately, two other potential victims of human trafficking were intercepted by the Bureau of Immigration while attempting to leave for Thailand on August 24.
