22-year-old arrested as suspect in Charlie Kirk assassination

Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah, has been arrested as the prime suspect in the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed Robinson's arrest, stating that surveillance footage and a family member's tip led to his identification and apprehension.

Robinson had reportedly expressed disapproval of Kirk's visit to Utah Valley University and criticized his views.

The 31-year-old Kirk was hit by a single bullet in his neck while addressing a large crowd at Utah Valley University in Orem.

Robinson faces charges including capital murder, weapons violations, and obstruction of justice.

Authorities apprehended Robinson on Thursday and he is currently in custody.

Despite his political views, Robinson has no prior criminal record and is classified as an inactive voter.
